As you may have noticed if you look at our news site (midlandtechnical.pressvinepro.com/) we recently won the Black Country Chamber Professional Services Firm of the Year 2011 award, and we've now been shortlisted for the Worcestershire Ambassadors CSR Award for our work promoting languages in local schools.
Although awards are a great way to raise our profile with local media, we've also found them of use for other reasons. It's a great way of making you take time out to look at what's good about the place where you work and the people in your team. Too often we get so bogged down in just meeting deadlines, we don't realise how lucky we are to work in a place that's doing well, with fantastic people alongside you. Filling in an awards form is a great opportunity to look at what's working well in your business and what you have achieved.
It's also an opportunity to see how other companies do things and to exchange ideas - companies who enter awards showcase the best of their systems and processes so others can benefit. They're usually open to sharing experiences and helping others improve too.
Awards are also a way of demonstrating to your team that they work in a great place and are appreciated - going to the presentation ceremony is a great way to reward team members and recognise their contribution.
I'd encourage everyone to take advantage of the chance to enter awards - it doesn't take long and it can be a real benefit to your company in many ways.
So fingers crossed here at MTT for the WA CSR Awards results - we find out the results later this month.
