Getting Your Content Translation Ready

How quickly a translation project can be completed often depends on how straightforward the source files are to work with. That’s why preparing your materials in advance and getting them ‘translation-ready’ can significantly streamline the translation process.

Supplying files in an editable format is the best way to fast-track both quoting and translation. Original Word, Excel and Adobe InDesign files (IDML) are preferred formats, as they require minimal formatting and allow for speedy analysis of word counts and repetitions. Although we can and do process PDFs and PDF conversions, the original editable format makes the process more efficient.

Similarly, if files contain text embedded within images, charts, or graphics, it’s important to understand whether it can be edited directly or not. Where text is non-editable, we’ll need to know whether it requires translation (and needs retyping) or should remain in the original language.
