Whether the translation is for use in Spain, Latin America or somewhere else is an important distinction. Although different varieties of Spanish are mutually comprehensible, some everyday words differ.
In Latin America, there has been a greater propensity for English borrowings, where words are adopted or adapted from English, than in Spain. With that in mind, here are some of our favourite English ‘flavoured’ words in Latin American Spanish and their European ‘peninsular’ Spanish equivalents:
